• Sound Mixer (Production Sound Mixer)
The Head Sound on set. They are responsible for recording all production sound-mostly dialogue-at the highest quality possible. They sit at a mixing station, balancing the levels of various microphones (lavaliers and booms) in realtime to ensure the tracks are clean and distortion-free.
• Boom Operator
The athlete of the sound team.They physically handle the “boom pole” keeping the mic as close to the actors as possible without letting it or its shadow enter the camera frame. They must memorize the script to know exactly where to point the mic as different actors speak.
Post Production Audio In Film
• Foley Artist
The “performance” artists of the sound world. They recreate everyday sound effects in a studio-like footsteps on gravel, the jingle of keys, or the rustle of clothing—to make the film feel immersive. If a character walks across a room, a Foley Artist is literally “performing” those steps while watching the footage.
• Re-Recording Mixer
The final gatekeepers of the movie’s sound. They take all the separate elements-the dialogue, the music, the sound effects, and the Foley-and blend them together into the final mix.
• Recording Engineer
Supervising and facilitating in studio recording needs such as ADR with re-recording dialog, Recording Foley and Tracking Score.
• Sound Designer
